The name of the Association shall be: Earley St Peter's School Association, which is registered as a charity at law.
The object of the Association is to advance the education of the pupils of the School by providing and assisting in the provision of facilities for and environmental incentives to education at the School.
In furtherance of this object and as ancillary thereto, the Association may:
a) foster more extended relationships between the staff, parents and others associated with the School;
b) engage in activities, which support the School and advance the education of the pupils attending it.
Membership shall be open to:
a) governors, ex-governors, present and past members of the academic, administrative and domestic staff of the School and their wives or husbands, and parents of present and former pupils of the School;
b) other 'friends of the School' proposed and seconded by members and approved by the committee.
A voluntary family fee payable during each academic year whilst your child(ren) attend the school.
The officers of the Association shall be:
a) Honorary President (Head Teacher);
b) Honorary Vice-President(s) (Deputy Head(s) );
c) Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer.
These officers shall be elected annually at the AGM as executive officers of the Association. These officers must have children at St Peter's School when elected. The chairperson shall be elected for a period of one year and may stand for re-election for two further consecutive years with a maximum term of three years . A prospective Chairperson should have served on the Committee for a minimum period of one year prior to standing for office.
The Secretary and Treasurer shall be eligible for re-election for three further consecutive periods of one year - a maximum term being four years. The Vice-Chairperson shall be elected at the AGM, or by the new Committee from within its own membership for a period of one year, and be eligible for re-election for further period of one year.
The Committee shall consist of the five officers listed above, and also include:
a) one governor appointed by the governors;
b) two members of staff appointed by their colleagues;
c) twenty further parents elected at the AGM
"The Committee shall have power to co-opt additional members and to appoint sub-committees.
Sub-committees shall, with the approval of the Committee, have the power to make charges or establish supplementary subscription rates for sectional activities.
i) receive a report from the Chairperson and an audited statement of accounts from the Treasurer;
ii) elect officers and Committee members as set out above, and appoint an honorary auditor;
iii) discuss any other business relevant to the affairs of the Association.
b) Regular meetings of the Committee and activities of the Association shall be arranged by the Committee. A quorum at a regular meeting will be one-third of the full membership providing four are parents/guardians.
c) Notices of meetings and other activities will be sent to members of the Association who have children currently at the School, and in addition notices will be posted at the School.
a) An Annual General Meeting shall be held in before the end of November of each year to:
Amendments to the Constitution may be proposed only at the Annual General Meeting or at a special general meeting called for that purpose not later than 21 days after the receipt by the Secretary of the request of not fewer than 20 members.
Amendments shall be declared carried if they command the support of two-thirds of those present and voting.
The Secretary shall be given at least 21 days notice in writing of the intention to propose an amendment at an Annual General Meeting.
No amendment shall be made to the Constitution, which would result in the Association ceasing to be a charity at law.
In the event of the Association being dissolved, any funds remaining after the satisfaction of all proper debts and liabilities shall not be distributed amongst the members of the Association, but shall be given to the School for the benefit of the children at the School in any manner which is exclusively charitable at law. |
